Troubleshooting Guide

The following document is intended to be a guide to navigate incidents we have encountered in the past.

BACnet Driver

BACnet scan unable to scan for objects due to BACnet ID conflict

When installing the Bueno Edge Gateway software on a new network, the application will automatically create a BACnet ID for itself on the BACnet network.

In some rare instances, this BACnet ID can conflict with an existing device on site, which affects its ability to scan for BACnet objects on the network.

To update the Bueno Edge Gateway's BACnet ID:

  1. Navigate to BACnet Settings
  2. In Advanced Settings, update the Device Instance field to a unique BACnet Device ID
tip

To help you identify the Bueno Edge Gateway on the BACnet network, you can update its name by updating the Device Name field.

Check if the BACnet driver is polling on the Bueno Edge Gateway

When there appears to be no data on the Bueno Platform, it is important to verify if the BACnet driver is polling to identify the root cause of the data outage. To do this:

  1. Navigate to the Browse Objects page
  2. Identify a point that is exhibiting no data issues within the table
  3. On the right side of the table, select Show More

A chart will appear, highlighting data points collected within the past 3 hours. If there does not appear to be any chart on the page, the BACnet driver is not polling the BACnet network correctly. This could be the result of any downstream issues, including but not limited to:

  • Network issues
  • Field controller issues
  • Container service issues

Unable to discover devices on a given subnet

When setting up a new Bueno Edge Gateway with multiple network port connections, the application may not always create a connection to the given network interface automatically.

If you are aware that the field device is online and discoverable but are unable to discover it via the Bueno Edge Gateway, check if the Network Port is configured correctly.

  1. Navigate to the BACnet Network Ports page
  2. Check that the given network interface exists on the configuration page
    • If the required network interface's status is error, the network interface may have been disconnected
  3. If the network interface does not exist on the configuration page, click on the Create Network Port button and create a new network port appropriate for the local network

Restarting the Bueno Edge Gateway service

In the event that the Bueno Edge Gateway stops working for an unknown reason, you may want to attempt to restart the service. To do so, enter the following in your terminal

sudo docker compose -f /opt/bueno/odyssey/docker-compose.yaml restart
